System Data on a Mac can grow surprisingly large because it includes caches, logs, temporary files, local Time Machine snapshots, app support files, and other data that doesn't fit into standard storage categories. In my experience, backups, old caches, and large app-generated files are usually the biggest culprits, so checking Storage settings and removing unnecessary files can often free up a good amount of space.

I found that I was utilizing lots of my storage space by way of System Data on my Mac computer. So what is System Data on Mac OS, and why can it occupy such a large space at times?
